What’s the difference between private lessons (per hour) and a private course (per module)?
- Private lessons (per hour): a completely flexible model with no fixed start or end. You decide the pace, frequency, and duration of the lessons, and you only pay for the lessons you take. This option is ideal if you prefer flexible scheduling and personalised learning focused on your specific interests and goals (e.g. for business or travel purposes).
- Individual course (per module): a more structured approach with clearly defined modules of 32 lessons (e.g. A1.1, B1.1). You pay per module, and the goal is to progress systematically through the program and language levels.
Is this course intended only for speakers of English, Portuguese, or Arabic who want to learn Croatian?
No, the course is open to everyone, regardless of their language background.
For learners who speak English, Portuguese, or Arabic, I can provide additional support as I’m able to explain the lessons in these languages, especially at your beginner levels. This removes the language barrier between teacher and student, making the first steps in learning Croatian easier and helping you progress more quickly.
What do private lessons include?
Private lessons include:
an assessment of prior knowledge (if any), language goals, and interests
a tailored lesson plan based on your objectives and needs
the option to choose lesson times and intensity
teaching and cultural materials
possibility of additional consultation with the instructor
feedback and regular communication with the instructor
upon request, a certificate of attendance stating the number of completed lessons
Do I need prior knowledge of Croatian?
No, you can start at any level, from beginner (A1) to more advanced (B2). If you already have some knowledge, I will assess your level at the beginning and tailor the lessons to your goals.
Will I learn about the culture of Croatian speakers?
Absolutely! Knowing about the culture, customs, music, films, and everyday life of Croatian speakers is just as important as learning grammar. Culture helps you understand the context of expressions, humour, and non-verbal communication, and gives you a sense of how the language “breathes” in real life.
As a native Croatian speaker with extensive experience teaching newcomers, I always enrich lessons with cultural and practical content. I provide extra support for learners whose native languages are English, Portuguese, or Arabic, but the course is open to everyone, regardless of their language background.
How long is one lesson?
One lesson lasts 75 minutes. If you wish, and depending on the instructor’s availability, we can also arrange double lessons.
How are the lessons held?
Lessons are held online via Google Meet.
How is the schedule arranged?
We schedule lessons week by week, depending on your availability and mine. For better language acquisition and to establish a routine, it’s recommended to have lessons at regular times.
Can I pause the course and continue later?
Of course! This is one of the advantages of taking private lessons. Since you pay per lesson, pauses or schedule changes are not a problem.
How will I receive learning materials?
Materials can be provided in the way that suits you best – via Google Classroom (where all documents and assignments are organised in one place), by email, or through WhatsApp for quick and practical exchanges.
How quickly can I progress?
The speed of progress depends on several factors: your personal commitment and lesson intensity, the similarity of your native language (or other languages you already speak) to the language you’re learning, your previous experience with learning foreign languages, the complexity of the target language, as well as your motivation and consistency.
With a well-structured program, a personalised pace, and continuous support, learning Croatian becomes achievable and motivating. My experience with learners of different ages, language backgrounds, and daily schedules shows that, with good organisation and methodology, anyone can successfully learn a foreign language – in a way that is enjoyable and rewarding.
How can I pay for the course?
Payment can be made via standard bank transfer or online banking.

ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Antonia.
I have nurtured my love for languages from an early age, growing up in a bilingual family and later through my studies in Linguistics, Portuguese language and literature, and a two-year specialisation of Arabic language in Egypt.
I have been teaching languages since 2014 – online, individually, and in groups – working with learners of all ages, from schoolchildren to adults. My teaching combines professional linguistic knowledge with a practical pedagogical approach, and I always take into account the needs and goals of each learner.
Over the years, I have developed methods that allow for dynamic, interactive, and motivating lessons, placing an equal emphasis on both language and cultural understanding. Collaborating with various educational institutions and organizations has further shaped my approach to language learning and teaching, which I strive to make accessible, adaptable, and inspiring.
